Rosa Nell Jones Smith departed this life on earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Rosa simply said, "The Lord is ready for me." Rosa had boldly and bravely fought and defeated many obstacles and battles in the last six months.
Rosa was the third (middle) child born to Odell C. Jones, Sr. and Rosa Lee Pittman Jones. She was born in Sheffield, Alabama. Rosa was raised in a household where Christian values were instilled. She was a 1954 graduate of Sterling High School. Other educational endeavors include clerk and children's daycare certifications.
Rosa was a child of the Most High God. She traveled near and far to attend church and worship her Savior. She was an active and proud member of Brown Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Sheffield, Alabama. She served as a Stewardess and a member of the Rosa Lee Jones Circle, as well as other capacities as needed.
Throughout her life, she was employed in various capacities, including G.E. Lingerie, Office Assistant and Extended Day Program for Muscle Shoals City Schools, and Shoals Area COARMM. Because of her love for children, she ultimately opened, owned, and operated Smith's Day Care for several years. She and her husband imparted much love and care to many children in and around the
Shoals area. Rosa married the love of her life, Macena "Mac" Smith, and was married for nearly 50 years. To this union, three children were born: Debra, Curtis, and Carlotta.
Rosa leaves a beautiful legacy to be remembered by her family and anyone who knew her. To know her was to love her. She was a lady with a sweet spirit, but was also known as a firecracker. Her family was the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves a legacy of loving beautiful flowers (especially purple) and keeping a clean house. She loved chatting with her siblings daily.
Rosa leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy two daughters: Debra James of Amory, MS and Carlotta Smith of Killen, AL; six grandchildren: Tamara Smith (daughter) of Decatur, AL; Amber James of Amory, MS; Martelli Smith of Sacramento, CA; Chantel Nunnery of Tuscumbia, AL; Dominique Moore of Tuscumbia, AL; and Nya Moore of Sheffield, AL, and three great-grandchildren: Ramone Smith of Florence, Alabama; Zaelyn Reeder of Tuscumbia, AL; Braelyn Graves of Tuscumbia, AL; and Zoie Reeder of Tuscumbia, AL. She also leaves two sisters: Inez McLean of Tuscumbia, AL and Dorothy Taylor of Los Angeles, CA; one brother: Odell C. Jones, Jr. (Mozella) of Memphis, TN; Sister-in-law: Helen Walker (Collins) of Akron, OH. Her legacy will also be extended through numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and family at the Muscle Shoals Senior Living Center.
Meeting her at the throne are her husband "Mac", parents Rev. Odell and Rosa Jones, Jr., sister Shirley Horton, son Curtis Smith, and great-granddaughter Victoria Camille Smith. To God be the glory.
